Enjoy Life!

I'm sure all of us take everyday life for granted, I know I do!
There are so many things to be thankful for, but too often I just try to get through the day, rather than stopping and thinking about how blessed I am!
Here is a dedication to sitting back, relaxing, and enjoying life!

Motivation

It seems that everything in my life has been leading up to this moment.

When I was a little girl, my best friend and I had a play business called "Jitters." We had everything; an inventory list, prices, a real receipt machine, the works, we were very into it. That was just the beginning.

Last summer I attended the State University's Ag Business Camp for teens. I know what you are thinking, Ag Business? Well, it was business none the less. I learned so much, it was the first year of this camp and there were only a few kids. We got to do so much; we created a product, we researched marketing strategies, and even made our own commercial. I made some really great friends who had their own businesses back home. They had started really young and they were still in college, they really inspired me.

At that point I knew that "someday," meaning when I grow up, that I would like to own my own business. However, when my mom took me to a "Where Women Create" workshop in Minneapolis in September, that "someday" metality completely changed. I met people who created for a living and that really started turning gears in my head. Those women were amazing and now that I look back a few months later, without those women I would have never had the courage at this age to pursue this little business.

The day I got home from Minneapolis I signed up for Blogger and I began posting pictures. I had 7 views in the week, yes that was my mom, grandma, aunt, and my bestie.

When I got an invitation to the Craft Fair on Facebook, I thought to myself, "Why not" sign up? You have to start somewhere, is what I kept telling myself. I worked really hard. I had a few days off of school a week before the show and I sat in my basement painting, twirling fabric, burning my fingers with my hot glue gun and applying my personal sparkle!

I sent out postcards and started posting Sneak Peeks! It was s much fun. Once I starting posting stuff, my facebook blew up and my Blogger stats went up like a rocket! It was awesome!

Everything in my life has lead up to this moment.

9:00 first customer arrives and I am busy the whole day. I have a good amount of custom orders and people loved what they saw. I feel so empowered and I felt all that hard work pay off. Even if that is the only Craft Show that I ever do, or those custom orders are all that I ever fill, that one day showed me that I can do anything that I set my mind to, and I can do what I love. That day taught me so much about preparation, salesmanship, and presentation.

This feeling is amazing, I hope at one time in your life you feel it too. Find your one thing that makes you happy and do it, you will never regret it.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

For today I decided to show this awesome table that my Mom designed. Isn't it beautiful?! It's not too late, you can jazz up your table too! Candles, ribbon, and even an old sheet for a table cloth can really make a difference!

Everyone enjoy your holiday and take a minute to really think about what you are thankful for!

Birthday Cake!

This year for my friend's birthday I volunteered to get the cake! I had so much fun designing this; our local baker was so fun to work with and basically brought my little drawing to life! Her favorite color is lime green and I had to add my favorite thing...sparkles! The baker had edible sparkles and I was so excited, it is exactly what I wanted and she loved it! Happy Birthday!
There were a few things that had to be changed from these originals, I made those cute letters with my Cricut machine. I used green sparkly paper and a black shadow paper, I stuck them on skewers and it was ready!

I know that I didn't actually make the cake, but when you see something that you designed come to life, there is no better feeling!

Sweet Dreams!

I made this for 4-H this year. At first I just put the punch needle work inside the frame which was not painted. Once it made it to State 4-H I decided to add the pretty pink paint and the really cute ribbon!

This project is a little time consuming, but it is so easy! Try it, I got this pattern at my craft store! It came with the fabric and the colored floss thread!

"The Good Doctor"

This year my schools Fall play was called "The Good Doctor." It was a collection of scenes that didn't have anything in common. The narrator was actually writing/dreaming up these stories throughout the play. It was set in 1960s Russia, the set was a silhouette of Russian city buildings.
My drama coach wanted to add some "sparkle" to the set, so naturally she gave me the challenge! Some awesome, dedicated kids helped me cut these out in between scenes, they were awesome! A lot of rubber cement and silver glitter later, I was finished!
I'm sure you have had one of those moments when you finished what you started and stood back and thought to yourself, "that is awesome, go me!" I definitely had one of those moments. This project wasn't a huge undertaking, however it just made me feel great to contribute to the set in my own special way!

Backyard

I figured since I featured my biggest fans yesterday, I would turn this week into a "featuring" week!

Today I am showing off what my Brother did to our backyard this summer. He built that white Pergola, the "river" or pond, a little bridge and a really amazing rock waterfall. It took a lot of hard work and talent, but he finally finished and it looks fantastic!

"Hooray for Cake!" Class

Fun instructors and our sparkly hands!

Creativity is Key!

More on my awesome trip!

One of the first classes we took was with a creative woman who owns a business, I learned so much! That particular class was all about photo styling for your business and how to put your own spin on things you make and sell.

"The Market" was an experience all on it's own! It was a very large, (huge!) convention center room filled with vendors. These business sold everything from bottle cap jewelry (which I post a picture of) to elaborate quilts, most of everything was handmade, love it! There was so much to look at. It was scheduled to open it's doors at 1:30, but people were lining up to get in at 1, so it was obviously a huge deal.

On Saturday, our classes didn't start until 11, so we slept in! Isn't sleep a beautiful thing? At 11:30 we finally left the hotel, we found our class which was "Healthy but Delicious Goodies With Uber Creative Packaging." We peaked in, but there was absolutely no room and up on the wall was pictures of really healthy food. I don't know what we were really expecting, but we are not the veggie burger, tofu type, not that we have anything against people who do like that stuff, but we love meat! So for that reason and the fact that we were about an hour late, we went to look for another class.

We looked and looked, finally we found a class that was using "Mod Podge" (kind of like runny Elmer's glue), paint, and glitter, which is right up my alley. We asked to join the class and we were creating in no time! It turned out to be the coolest blessing ever, we had so much fun!

Beauty and the Beast

I am a huge sucker for the Disney store! Whenever I see one, I always buy something!
They redesigned the Disney princesses dresses and I couldn't resist this awesome "Belle" journal, (she is my favorite!)

Creative Trip

Minneapolis Trip

Once the wonderful breakfast was done, a keynote speaker from "BlogHer" spoke to us. She said many things, but they thing that stuck the most was that he Grandma and her Mother had great stories of their lives but never shared them with her or anyone. She said that it was bummer that they never did because it could fill in so many things about her life today, but they are both gone now and she won't ever get those stories. That is why she said that blogging was such a great privilege for women today, we can leave something behind for the younger generations. They can learn so much from us, like we can learn so much from others from older generations. I really liked her, she was awesome!

When she was done speaking we headed to our first "class." There was two to choose from; beginner blogger to intermediate bloggers. My mom and I chose the beginner class because she didn't know anything about blogging and I only knew a little because of my "yolasite" I used to have (which I hadn't updated for months!) It was a panel of really experienced/successful bloggers. I learned so much from them!

That class lasted a couple hours and next was lunch! We had lunch while listening to other business bloggers. Becky Higgins, Nora Abousteit, and Stacy Julian; each had an amazing story and they taught me a lot of things about life, business, and never giving up!

After lunch we were scheduled to go to more classes, but my mom and I decided it was the best time to skip out and go to the Mall of America! We got in a taxi and in 30 minutes we were at the doors of the most awesome mall ever! We did a lot of shopping (about 4 hours worth) and just for your info, it is so much more than just shopping, it is an "Experience!"

Thanks for reading, more to come later!

Yummy Breakfast!

All I can say, is that it was the best breakfast I have had in a long time!

Where Women Create

This weekend I went to a convention in Minneapolis that was called "Where Women Create." There were a ton of awesome women there to learn how to or improve their blogs, businesses, or anything to do with their crafting dreams! I was one of them and there was really great teachers to send us forward in the right direction. I will post some pictures that you can look at!

We left for the airport on Wednesday and got there at 5 to check our bags and go through security. For dinner at the airport we ate from a little bagel specialty shop, I got a avocado/bacon sandwich and it was delicious! We boarded the plane and the flight went so fast!

Once we had claimed our bags and such, we were on our way to our hotel! It was so nice to lay down on that nice soft bed! The next morning we were shuttled over to the convention hotel and we enjoyed a delicious breakfast. Yum! On our table was a free pound of Starbucks coffee, yay!

More on this awesome trip tomorrow!

Virtual fist pump,
